Lovage has a name that makes one think of romance. In fact, that led the herb to be frequently used in love potions and aphrodisiacs. Its name, however, actually comes from where it originally grew in the area of Italy known as Liguria. Though it might not help you find true love, using Lovage creates new flavors in your favorite recipes.

Use
Lovage is best used fresh, but you can freeze the leaves and stems. Blanch a handful of leaves in boiling water VERY quickly then quickly throw into a bowl of ice water for a couple of minutes. Drain, place in plastic freezer bags and freeze. The frozen Lovage can be minced and used in cooked dishes.Lovage has a similar taste to celery or celeriac it goes well with fish, chicken, casseroles, stews, soups, salads, stuffings and many more.
